HOUSE MAJORITY WHIP, REPUBLICAN STEVE SCALISE UNDERWENT EMERGENCY SURGERY AFTER BEING HIT BY THE GUNFIRE. HE IS IN CRITICAL BUT STABLE CONDITION AND IS FACING MORE SURGERY. PRESIDENT TRUMP VISITED WITH SCALISE AND HIS FAMILY LAST EVENING.

29-YEAR OLD JAMES LEE BEVANS OF HYNDMAN, BEDFORD COUNTY IS IN JAIL AFTER BEING CHARGED SIMPLE AND AGGRAVATED ASSAULT AND STRANGULATION STEMMING FROM AN INCIDENT LAST WEEK INVOLVING AN UNNAMED FEMALE VICTIM.

THE PENNSYLVANIA SENATE YESTERDAY PASSED A BILL, MAKING IT UNLAWFUL FOR ANY COUNTY, CITY OR TOWN TO IMPOSE A BAN OR TAX ON PLASTIC SHOPPING BAGS COMMONLY USED BY RETAILERS. THE MEASURE IS NOW BEFORE GOVERNOR WOLF WHO HAS OPPOSED THE BILL IN THE PAST, BUT HAS NOT MADE A FINAL DECISION.
