A LARGE CROWD TURNED OUT LAST EVENING ON THE JUNIATA COLLEGE CAMPUS TO HELP GET HUNTINGDON’S 250TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION UNDERWAY. THE BIG BAND SOUND PERFORMED A 2 HOUR CONCERT WHICH WAS FOLLOWED BY THE LAUNCHING OF 250 LANTERNS INTO THE EVENING SKY. YOU CAN SEE PHOTOS AND VIDEOS OF BOTH EVENTS ON THE HUNNY FACEBOOK PAGE. THE CELEBRATION CONTINUES TODAY WITH VARIOUS EVENTS, THE HIGHLIGHT BEING A PARADE AT 7 O’CLOCK THIS EVENING. ORGANIZERS EXPECT THE PROCESSION DOWN WASHINGTON STREET TO TAKE TWO AND A HALF TO THREE HOURS.

NUMEROUS EVENTS ARE SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY INCLUDING THE STREET FAIR FROM 9AM TO 5PM. THE WEEKENDS ACTIVITIES CONCLUDE SUNDAY WITH A PICNIC AND ICE CREAM SOCIAL, A SPECIAL WORSHIP SERVICE AND A SHOWING OF BACK TO THE FUTURE WITH A DELOREAN CAR ON DISPLAY AT THE CLIFTON FIVE AS A FUNDRAISER FOR THE TOWN CLOCK.THAT TAKES PLACE AT 1:30

A NEW COAL MINE WHICH WILL EMPLOY 50 TO 70 WORKERS OPENED IN SOMERSET COUNTY YESTERDAY. THE EVENT WAS MARKED BY A VISIT FROM GOVERNOR TOM WOLF AND A VIDEO MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT TRUMP.

GOVERNOR TOM WOLF IS EXPECTED TO SIGN LEGISLATION MONDAY WHICH LAWMAKERS APPROVED THURSDAY REFORMING THE STATES PENSION PLAN. THE PACKAGE APPROVED YESTERDAY WILL CUT RETIREMENT BENEFITS FOR FUTURE HIRES IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND STATE GOVERNMENT JOBS
