A Perry County teenager died after a single-vehicle crash in Northeast Madison Township early Thursday. The coroner’s office identified the teen as 17 year old Chandler Ramsey of Blain. Ramsey crashed on Fort Robinson Road around 5AM. A 14 year old passenger was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

 

Police cited a woman, following a crash at a Lewistown intersection earlier this month. 39 year old Cory Herto pulled partially out into the intersection of Montgomery Ave at South Dorcas Street and then backed up because of traffic. She backed into the front of another vehicle. Herto was cited for driving without a license and without insurance.

 

PennDOT has announced work to replace a bridge along Freedom Avenue in Mifflin County is scheduled to begin January 2nd. The existing bridge is just east of the intersection with Logan Boulevard in the Burnham Borough. Replacing the bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from the list of Mifflin County bridges in poor condition. The crews will be installing new drainage inlets and piping. This work is scheduled to take place overnight between the hours of 7PM and 5AM for approximately 2 weeks. Flaggers will enforce an alternating traffic pattern while the work takes place. Work to construct a temporary roadway and bridge began December 3 and will continue throughout the winter. Crews anticipate moving traffic to the temporary roadway in April.

 

The Borough of Lewistown would like to remind residents trash pick up for Tuesday, January 1st will instead by picked up on the 2nd due to the New Year’s holiday. Recycling materials are to be held until the next scheduled recycling day which is January 15th.
