Incidents of vehicles not yielding for school buses are being investigated by Lewistown Borough Police.   Several recent infractions have occurred on West Fourth Street in the Borough.  Drivers are reminded to stop at least ten feet away from any stopped school bus when the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is activated.  Violations could result in a $250 fine, a 60-day suspension of driving privileges, and five points.


A missing person in Huntingdon County has been located.  According to State Police, the unnamed individual who suffers from dementia went missing from Indian Beach Drive in Porter Township on October 4th.  A member of the Alexandria Fire Company located the missing person down a steep bank along the Frankstown branch of the Juniata River.  The individual was unharmed, but transported to JC Blair Hospital as a precaution.


Authorities are investigating a theft in Lewistown.  On September 22nd, officers were dispatched to a residence on the 300 block of Logan Street.  The victim, 53-year-old Rebecca Fite told police $1500 had been taken from her residence.  A suspect, 34-year-old Alexis Herrington, was contacted by Police at PA Auto Brokers while attempting to buy a car with a portion of the stolen money.  Herrington admitted taking the money.  The missing funds were returned to Fite.


Another theft resulted in charges against a Lewistown woman.  Borough Police charged 55-year-old Deelores Simmons with theft by unlawful taking after an incident October 3rd at the Nittany Minit Mart on East Walnut Street.  Surveillance video showed Simmons, an employee of the store, removing several wads of money and placing them in her pocket.  When questioned by police, she admitted to the crime.  The money was returned to the Minit Mart.


Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital Women’s Health will host a remembrance walk this weekend to support those who have suffered the loss of an infant, a child​, or an unborn child. The public is invited to join and help honor the special lives lost too soon.  The walk is Saturday at 10:00 am at Kish Park in Lewistown.
