Few details are available after shots were fired at Red’s Diner in Lewistown Tuesday night.  Mifflin County Regional Police responded to the call at about 9:20 pm.  A suspect is in custody.  The investigation will continue.

 

Five Commonwealth agencies have formalized an interagency agreement which officially launches the Pennsylvania Traffic Incident Management Enhancement program (PennTIME).  The goal of PennTIME is to reduce highway incident clearance times and improve first-responder safety while keeping traffic moving.  Traffic crashes and ‘struck-by’ incidents are leading causes of injury and death for highway workers, police officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel and towing and recovery workers.  The agreement was signed by PennDOT, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Pennsylvania State Police, the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

 

The fall semester has started, and the results are in.  Reviews.org has compiled a list of “The Best College Town In Every State,” and State College is tops in Pennsylvania.  Reviews.org broke down college towns in categories including cost of living, student employment, city access, nightlife, and even college education.  State College was sixth on the national list.  Iowa City, home of the University of Iowa, ranked first nationally.

 

Veterans Appreciation Day at the Juniata County Fair is Thursday (September 6th).  The Patriot Guard Riders, a Pennsylvania motorcycle group will be attending.  A  Blackhawk Helicopter from Fort Indiantown Gap will be landing for the public to view.  There will also be a Gold Star Ceremony for military personnel killed in Vietnam.  Veterans Appreciation Day is Thursday at the Juniata County Fair in Port Royal.

 

The Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center (RMC) and Closed Loop Fund (CLF) have announced a statewide partnership targeting a $5 million investment in recycling infrastructure in Pennsylvania. The statewide program follows Closed Loop Fund’s successful investment in Philadelphia’s AeroAggregates in 2017.  The investment will come in the form of zero-percent (0%) loans to municipalities and below market loans to private companies with substantial business operations in Pennsylvania.  RMC will assist in the identification and initial screening for applicants. Closed Loop Fund will make the final evaluation on funding projects.
