Newport State Police are asking for the public’s help to identify the person in connection with a fatal hit and run. Troopers responded to the report of a single vehicle crash involving a pedestrian December 23. 28 year old Nickolas Watson of New Bloomfield was struck and killed around 2AM on West Main Street in Perry County. Lewistown police are investigating a Juniata County theft. A report of fraud was received from the Nittany Minit Mart on December 7. An unknown man and woman reportedly cashed fake lottery tickets valuing several hundred dollars. The couple was driving a silver Ford Fusion. Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact Lewistown police.
PennDOT is alerting area drivers that rolling traffic stops are scheduled again along Route 22 – 322 near the Arch Rock interchange in Juniata County. The rolling stops will take place tomorrow (December 27th) during daylight hours, starting at 9:00 am.
The stops will occur westbound and are necessary to perform beam work on the Route 22 westbound bridge that spans Cuba Mills Road.
Electronic message boards and roadway signing will alert drivers to the traffic stops. PennDOT encourages drivers to “Know before they go” and to check roadway conditions by visiting www.511PA.com.
You have several chances to give the “Gift of Life” today. The American Red Cross bloodmobile will be in Mifflin and Juniata Counties. Blood drives are scheduled for the First United Methodist Church on East Third Street in Lewistown from 12:30 pm to 6:00 pm, and at Elmcroft on Carriage House Lane in Reedsville from 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm. The Red Cross will also be at River Church of Juniata County on CJEMS Lane in Mifflintown from 12:30 pm to 6:00 pm. And just a reminder to Lewistown Borough residents, Tuesday’s trash pick up will occur tonight due to yesterday’s holiday. Recycling materials are to be held until their next regularly scheduled recycling day which will be January 8th.
