State Representative John Hershey (R-Franklin/Juniata/Mifflin) was officially sworn into office Tuesday at the state Capitol to begin his first term in the General Assembly serving the 82nd Legislative District. Representaive Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) was also sworn in, marking the beginning of the 203rd Legislative Session of the General Assembly of Pennsylvania. The proceedings also included the formal election of Representative Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) as House speaker. The House will return to voting session on January 15th.
The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) has approved grants totaling $791,412 for 12 projects to increase the production of Pennsylvania-made malt and brewed beverages and enhance the state’s beer industry through promotion, marketing, and research-based programs and projects. Act 39 of 2016 created the Pennsylvania Malt and Brewed Beverages Industry Promotion Board and authorized the PLCB to approve up to $1 million annually for development and marketing of the Pennsylvania beer industry.
